04 Therapy focus
Stress and burnout support
ACT-based work for stress and burnout, sorting what's actually yours to act on from what you're carrying that you don't need to.
For clients arriving flat, exhausted or bracing against everything at once, this session works mostly from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: practical exercises for separating what's within your control from what isn't, so effort stops going into fights you can't win. In the room, this sometimes looks like sorting objects, like the smooth stones used in our ad, into what can be acted on and what can be set down; outside the room it's about noticing the same split in an ordinary day.

02How it runs
Step by step, in this order
Every session: 50 min. You always know which part you're on.
- 01 First session maps out where the load is actually coming from
- 02 A practical exercise separating what's yours to act on from what isn't
- 03 Small changes trialled between sessions, reviewed together next time
- 04 A wider plan built once the immediate load has eased
Is this only for work-related burnout?
No. Stress and burnout here can come from work, caring responsibilities or a long stretch of both at once; the approach doesn't assume the cause.
Do you give homework?
We call it a small thing to try, not homework. It's usually specific and small enough to actually fit into a busy week.
